HP Pavilion 27 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 27-d1000i (1U0B4AV)

I installed the latest BIOS update for my Pavilion 27in PC and now my PC constantly freezes not long after I switch it on. While it is on it will suddenly freeze make a slight buzzing noise and then freeze making the mouse totally unusable. I then have to force shutdown of the PC and switch it on again before I am able to use it.

Will there be another update to correct this problem or can I uninstall it. I have tried searching for a similar problem on the community but don't see any solutions.  Please help as my PC is only a couple of years old and is still under warranty by HP.

Hi @GaryIanAnderson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the BIOS update might have introduced some instability to your system. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

Reset the BIOS to Default Settings:

  • Turn off your computer and then turn it back on.
  • Immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to the "Exit" menu and select "Load Setup Defaults".
  • Save the changes and exit.

Rollback the BIOS Update:

  • If the BIOS reset doesn't help, you may need to rollback to the previous version of the BIOS.
  • Download the previous BIOS version from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the instructions provided on the website to install the previous BIOS version.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure all your system drivers are up to date, especially the chipset and graphics drivers.
  • You can use the HP Support Assistant to check for and install the latest drivers.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, a new BIOS version might require certain Windows updates to work correctly.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP provides a built-in diagnostics tool that can help identify hardware issues.
  • Turn off your computer, and then turn it back on.
  • Immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to enter the System Diagnostics.
  • Run the extensive system test to check for hardware issues.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can cause the system to freeze.
  • Ensure your PC is in a well-ventilated area and that all vents are clear of dust and obstructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
