Greetings all,
I realize this is an older PC but all the links I can find are dead (thanks HP...)
I have this PC:
HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0039
Can someone answer the following questions clearly:
- What is the most power Intel CPU I can install on this mother board (Lincs MB I think)?
- What is the max and type of RAM I can install on this MB?
Thanks!!!

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0039 (3LB28AA) as fitted with the Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B) can be upgraded with all Intel Core 8th gen and 9th gen processors, including the hotter running "K" and "KF" processors, such as the i7-9700K as seen here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/47991298.
Your PC can be fitted with up to 2x16GB of DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks, such as these 2x16GB RAM kits: Crucial CT16G4DFRA266.M16FR 2x16GB or the Timetec 32GB KIT(2x16GB) DDR4 2666 MHz PC4-21300 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 2Rx8 Dual Rank 288 Pin UDIMM Desktop Memory RAM as seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-2600MHz-PC4-20800-Unbuffered-Non-ECC/dp/B07CQ8FJXB/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3Q....
And there are power supply upgrades available as well: a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800, and a 500-watt power supply with p/n: 901759-013 -just in case you are also interested in a graphics card upgrade.

Hi 777,
First, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question.
Now I am confused, as I had a different reply that said that 843b is capable of 64G DRAM 288 pins 3200/16 latency.
So I ordered that:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 3200 MHz
Then squeezing a 500W PSU that will fit but only one screw will secure it, so I ordered this:
L05757-800 Power Supply PSU 500W For HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0003UR DPS-500AB-32 A
Finally I got a:
MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER ARMOR OC
I paused on the upgrade to the CPU I5 as monitoring it shows it rarely peeks at 70%+/-.
My next upgrade might be from the HDD drive to an SSD, or should that be a NvMe? That drive will hold the games and more intensive SW. I have two SSD drive now that holds the MS office Win O/s etc.
Any opinion?
Thx,
a.

Well, going by some of the most reputable secondary RAM upgrade sites, they all stipulate 2x16GB to be the maximum RAM your HP Pavilion Desktop 690-0039 is supposed to handle, such as: https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/hp/pavilion-desktop/690-0039, and: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/pavilion-690-0039.
Interestingly, very similar desktops such as the HP Pavilion 690-0073w are thought to be able to be compatible with 2x32GB RAM, such as seen here: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/pavilion-690-0073w.
If, however, you are saying that your 690-0039 is in fact compatible with 2x32GB, that is wonderful!
Yes, you really should utilize the Lincs' M.2 NVMe SSD slot and making that your primary (boot) drive and using one or two SATA SSDs as your secondary (storage/gaming) drives.

777, thank you so much!
We shall see about the 64G DRAM, I got it for real cheap so it would not be so bad if they do not work.
I will certainly look in NvME to replace the HDD.
Thanks again and thank you for the links you provided.
Rgds,
a.
