HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1000a (2W847AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm thinking of buying some bigger ram / extra ram depending on price and circumstances, right now as bought it comes with 2*4 GB ram. I was thinking of either getting 1 slot upgraded to 8gb, or do both(2*8GB), as I'm not sure if having different amount of RAM in different slots messes up the system.

I'm also not sure what replacing parts does regarding the warranty that I still got about 10 months or so left of.

I figured I would ask around and if the risk is negligible,  I might buy some sooner rather then later.

Any advice ??

Your system is new and does not yet show up at the HO parts surfer nor at Kington or Crucial memory advisory.

The specifications for your TP1-1000a are here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-tg01-1000a/37921127/model/2100019...

The exact model, 1000a, is not listed but the motherboard seems to be "Erica3" which is detailed here

It looks like you can have  up to 64gb of memory, but there is no list of recommended ram.  If you upgrade your memory now, you can probably get more for the pair of used 4gb then after a few years.  Memory prices usually drop quickly.  It is possible that adding larger memory, even rated at 3200 speed, the memory will run slower than 3200.

My best guess for memory is to use download and run CPU-z and make a note of the memory SPD and manufacturer and obtain the same the of chips but 8gb or even 16gb but make sure that you are allowed to return them if not compatible.  Rank dual means "R2" when looking up DDR4 memory. For example:

I just had a look at it, I hope you don't mind if I ask a bit more - it seems my RAM are "single" and not DUAL

Though it does show DUAL under memory fan

I'm wondering if that means there is no Dual Option for me. I know my MB only has 2 slots, and I had a look at some RAM

that has following specs, a bit higher MHz, should follow much of what I got of info from HP Support assistant

Off course I would call up HP about this at some point before I buy, but I though I might as well get some info about it

Thank you

Thank you for posting that information.

Memory ranks are explained here For me that means that memory is on both sides of the stick and are usually marked "R2" on the label.  To give you an example of the problem:  I used Crucial memory finder to look up my Area51 R4 but it was not listed exactly so I had to guess and I picked this one here as it seemed correct.  Had the same speed and was guaranteed.  It did not work as they were single rank.  The picture did not show the backside which was bare.  I returned them and got a full refund and there was nor charge to restock and I used their return mail so it did not cost me anything.  The stick was not marked R2 and I told them if they had shown a picture of the backside I would have known not to buy them as I needed dual rank not single.  My Area51 is old and Microsoft made an exemption for my CPU and I can run Windows 11 where originally they said I could not.

You have a much newer system and it PROBABLY can accept the higher density 16gb memory.  My system cannot handle high density chips and needed dual rank which is slower.

Unless HP publishes more details about your upgrade you are guessing about what memory types can be used.   Your location may be a problem.  My son is in Germany and the VAT is terrible and the packages I send are inspected to see if he is avoiding VAT.  Denmark (?) is not in EU not sure about taxes there.  You might be better off waiting a few years for prices to drop to where used chips are really cheap.

If memory size is not critical you might consider investing in other enhancements.

Some ideas:

Blu-ray player/recorder and DVDfab ripping software
Second monitor and stand for the pair.
Entry level network attached storage such as Synology
Cheap Wi-FI "critter" or "spy" camera and Blue Iris software.
You can do a lot with the system you currently have using just 8gb.

Regards
