HP Pavilion HPE h8-1104nl (H0D48EA)

I want to connect a 32:9 monitor to my computer, HP Pavilion HPE h8-1104nl (H0D48EA).
But the graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 6850) that is in it now, cannot handle the resolution, 5.120 x 1.440.
So I am looking for a graphics card upgrade that can handle that and fits in without too many other adjustments.

@JeroenvB,

Trust me: any of the cards that were mentioned: RTX 3050, GTX 1660 Super and the RTX 4060 can all be powered by your 460-watt power supply using the 6-pin to 8-pin PCIe power adapter cable.

The TDP of an RTX 4060 is only 115-watt, and TechPowerUp even claims that you could run this card with just a 300-watt power supply: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4060.c4107

If you want to install a larger capacity power supply, please, go right ahead, but it wouldn't be necessary.

@JeroenvB,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

From what I can tell looking at the specs, your HP Pavilion HPE h8-1104nl Desktop PC (H0D48EA) is powered by a 460-watt ATX power supply, equipped with one 6-pin PCIe power cable: https://partsurfer.hp.com/?searchtext=H0D48EA.

My personal recommendation: upgrade your graphics card to a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060, such as this Amazon-Nederland purchase option: https://www.amazon.nl/ASUS-DisplayPort-ventilatorontwerp-Auto-Extreme-Technologie/dp/B086ZTB81P/ref=....

Only other part you'll have to order is a 6-pin to 8-pin PCIe power adapter cable like this purchase option: https://www.amazon.nl/Converter-Effective-Convenient-Connector-Conversion/dp/B0DJVRCSSQ/ref=sr_1_7?_....  You can safely do this, as your 6-pin PCIe power cable can provide up to 12V x 18A = 216-watt of power.

Your motherboard has a PCIe Gen 2 x16 slot, which is fully compatible with the RTX 4060 (PCIe Gen4). The card will run at PCIe Gen 2 speeds, but this won't significantly impact performance.

Alternative GPU Options That Require No PSU Upgrade:

If you'd rather avoid using a power adapter, consider these alternatives:

Nvidia RTX 3050 (single 6-pin PCIe connector, 130-watt TDP)
Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (single 6-pin PCIe, 125-watt TDP)

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

but that card needs a 550W power supply and there is a 460W power supply in it now. so do I need to upgrade that too?
