I've upgraded this puppy to the max - 16GB of ram, low profile dedicated GPU, SSD and CPU. Everything works great, except for a small nuisance - Core i7-3770K causes BIOS to barf out a "CPU not supported" message and shutdown. This can be easily skipped by pressing F1, but I would love to have an ability to disable forced shutdown, which is a complete BS. The message can still pop up - I don't care if BIOS takes extra 3-5 seconds to reflect on its own stupidity.
HP product page says that i7-3xxx (Ivy Bridge) CPUs are supported with TDP up to 77W, and K variant fits that requirement. I don't care if HP BIOS cannot change clocks and multipliers - I don't need that. I only wish to not have to press F1 upon every boot.
So, is there a hidden setting somewhere in the BIOS, or maybe a modified firmware to flash that will finally make this little confuser perfect?

Hi @twixed
Welcome to the HP Forum.
That's good the 3770K works.
I don't think you will find a BIOS setting to stop the error message at startup.
The latest BIOS update I could find for your MB is Here. I don't see any additional CPU support options in the "Fixes" section at the above site.
You might have to live with this annoyance at startup.
Regards

Hm... There must be a way to dump BIOS, find that piece of code that shuts the machine down after showing the message, replace it with a bunch of NOPs, sign it somehow and then flash it back. Maybe there are forums on the internet where byte digging nerds gather to do just that. I'll keep looking.
