HP Pavilion desktop checks for driver updates several times a day
03-19-2021 11:25 AM

Brand new desktop checks for driver updates several times a day. It's scheduled for once a week on Friday evening. Is there a way to stop the frequent update checks? It's very annoying.

Hello
if it is hp support assistant, see here how to do it, it is best to deactivate everything, and check manually from time to time

My Settings screen doesn't look like the one shown in the link you provided. Mine looks like this, and I've turned off the check for updates. It's still checking for updates about every couple of hours.

Did you install the latest version?
are you receiving hp software updates, not windows update?

The desktop is brand new, delivered 3/17/21. HP Support Assistant has updated at least a dozen times since then. It says it's up to date.

You are not responding for windows update.
uninstall the software, since you have disabled updates it should no longer appear
If it's ok, reinstall it, then reconfigure the updates, to check if it's ok ..

It's NOT the WINDOWS UPDATE that keeps running. it is the HP UPDATE ASSISTANT!!!! Which I stated in my first post.
This is a brand new HP Pavilion desktop - 3 days old. I will NOT uninstall HP-installed software, and I don't want to manually check for updates. I was expecting HP tech support to figure out what the HP problem was and provide a solution., not confuse an HP problem with a Windows problem.

sorry If you don't want to try anything, there's nothing we can do for you here
good luck
