Hi @Sarah1949,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your keyboard!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To type a left quotation mark (also known as an opening quotation mark) on your HP Pavilion All-in-One wireless keyboard, follow these steps:

For Standard US Keyboard Layout:

Single-left quotation mark:

  • Press the key combination Alt + 0145 on the numeric keypad. Ensure the Num Lock is turned on before you type the numbers.

Double left quotation mark:

  • Press the key combination Alt + 0147 on the numeric keypad.

For other keyboard layouts:

Different keyboard layouts might have variations in key combinations for special characters. Here are some general methods:

Character Map Utility (Windows):

  • Open the Character Map utility by typing Character Map in the Windows search bar.
  • Find and select the left quotation mark character.
  • Click on Select, then Copy.
  • Paste the character where needed.

Shortcut (Microsoft Word):

  • Type the desired text, and surround it with Ctrl + [Alt] + [ and Ctrl + [Alt] + ]. This automatically converts them into quotation marks.

Unicode:

  • Copy and paste the Unicode characters:
    • Single opening quotation mark: ‘
    • Double opening quotation mark: “

Remember that some applications might handle opening quotation marks automatically when using smart quotes, especially in word processors like Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Let me know if it helped.
