Does this laptop support USB C to displayport of anysorts so I can actually have 180hz on that monitor as it provides that or am I limited due to 2.0 HDMI port? please someone help me

Hi @JustAChillGuy,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are planning to buy ASUS TUF Gaming VG249QL3A (180Hz) monitor with your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2828no laptop, you need to check whether your laptop can support the 180Hz refresh rate over HDMI or USB-C.
1. HDMI Port on Your Laptop
- If your laptop has an HDMI 2.0 port, you should be able to achieve 180Hz at 1080p resolution with the right cable. HDMI 2.0 supports 1080p at 240Hz, so you should be able to push the monitor to its 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD (1920x1080).
- If your laptop only has HDMI 1.4, the refresh rate may be limited to 120Hz at 1080p, which would not utilize the full potential of the monitor.
2. USB-C to DisplayPort
If your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort 1.2 (or higher) over USB-C, you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect your laptop to the monitor and get the full 180Hz. You would need to check your laptop’s specs to confirm if this is the case.
DisplayPort 1.2 supports 180Hz at 1080p, so this would be ideal for achieving the maximum refresh rate.
USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 can handle even higher resolutions and refresh rates, but for your monitor's 1080p, DisplayPort 1.2 is sufficient.
3. Best Option
- If your laptop supports USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2, then using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable is probably your best bet, as it can easily support the full 180Hz refresh rate.
- If your laptop only has HDMI 2.0, you can still connect the monitor via HDMI to achieve 180Hz at 1080p.
You can check your laptop's specifications HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2828no Product

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
