HP Pavilion Power Desktop 580-137c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have used the HP Operating System Diagnostic tool to identify my computer specifications and wish to upgrade the memory.

Currently have 16GB (2x8gb) installed. The diagnostic shows 64GB as the maximum capacity.

I would like to know 2 things:

1. Is there any other upgrades to needed support the max RAM if I upgrade?

2. What is the exact specification of the compatible memory so that I can be sure of ordering the correct modules?

Thank you for any assistance!

@Jack_of_All, welcome to the forum.

HP has their motherboards made to their own specs.  They use them in many different models.  In this particular model they limited the maximum memory to 16 GB.  Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer.  If you look at the section titled "Memory upgrade information", you will see that the maximum memory is 16 GB.  Therefore, you can't upgrade any further.

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

No other upgrades are needed to install additional memory modules in the motherboard.

You could check HP Part Surfer (Link) for greater density modules.

Crucial Memory (Link) also provides memory upgrades which are guaranteed to work on HP PCs.

Don't mess with higher speed XMP memory. This does not usually go well.

That is unfortunate but thank you kindly for the prompt and accurate response. 🙂

Hi Old_geekster,

Good call.

I relied on the OP's 64 GB memory upgrade capacity statement.
