I have an HP PC that I wish to fit a graphics card to to replace the on board Intel graphics.
It is a HP Pro 3130 Mini Tower
Intel core i5 650/3.2 GHz
4 GB DDR 3 SDRAM non ECC PC3-10600
500GB Hard Drive
AC 120/230V 300 Watt
Windows 7 64 bit
I'vee been out of the PC build & upgrade scene for a while, a friend is kindly giving me a gtx970 graphics card i wanted to know which psu i can get to provide the juice it requires to run smoothly?

@OldWorld27, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Illustrated Parts and Service Guide for the computer. It will tell you the components that are compatible with the motherboard. The GTX 970 will not work in your motherboard, however. It requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a Legacy/standard BIOS. HP didn't begin using UEFI in any of their computers until mid-October, 2012. The BIOS can't be upgraded to UEFI.

Thank you for the additional information, @OldWorld27. It is difficult for us to know the knowledge level of members. Sometimes we do provide information that is too advanced. I hope the information below will help.
If you look on Page 2 of the guide under the section titled "Other boards" there is a list of video cards that are compatible; beginning with the "ATI Radeon HD 4550 (RV710)" and ending with the "GeForce GT 210 512-MB". These are all PCI Express x16 video cards. You can do a Google search to see which of the cards are available for sale.

This may have been the case in the past, but I have used AMD cards in my Intel based computers with great success. The last series of cards not to require UEFI in the motherboard were the GTX 660/670's.
