HP ProDesk 600 G4 Base Model Microtower PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there,

I have a Prodesk 600 G4 MT with an I3 8100. I would like to upgade it to I7 8700 but I think the cooler doesnt do the job for the new I7 8700. And also I have to keep the drive bay, so i need a low profile coller. Can someone recommend me a oem or 3rd party, the price is not so important, that fits in the Motherboard (LGA 1151) and under the drive cage.

Best regards.

@Vlada3225,

Then I would recommend this 95-watt TDP rated HP heatsink/fan combo as seen in this eBay-US link: HP Victus HP Pavilion HP Omen HP Envy Gaming Desktop 95W Heatsink Fan 810281-001 | eBay.

Kind Regards,

@Vlada3225,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Actually, you should be fine: both the i3-8100 and the i7-8700 are 65-watt TDP processors, so your stock CPU heatsink/fan combo should be able to handle an i7-8700, as this HP ProDesk 600 G4 MT model fitted with an i7-8700 shows: HP PartSurfer.

Hi, thank you for your answer. i did a stresstest and  the Temp was up to 94. I think that the old cooler is just too old. Is there something better or should I just buy  the same but newer one?

Best Regards.
