HP ProDesk 400 G1 Small Form Factor PC

Hey all

ok so I’ve just got my hands on one of these machines for free and was looking at upgrading the CPU to a Intel Core i7-4771 I’ve already got 16gb of ram and the rest is standard(I think) and I was wondering if the standard power supply would be able to support it I thought so but I’m unsure to be honest any help would be appreciated

Hi:

Below is the link to the specs for both processors.

Since they both draw 84 W, they could use the same P/S as you have in there now.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/compare.html?productIds=75122,77656

I would go with the 4771, since the service manual's revision is a month newer than the quickspecs link I posted.

Also the power supplies are proprietary and unless HP has a better one for the 400 G1 SFF, than you have now, you wouldn't be able to upgrade the P/S anyway.

Hi:

According to the quickspecs for that model, the i7-4771 is not supported.

The best you can go to is the i7-4770 according to page 4, and no additional equipment is necessary for the upgrade.

Hi

on page 142 of the Maintenance and service guide for the machine it offers the 4771 as an upgrade-able  option for the ProDesk 400 g1 sff so is this a HP problem where the supported CPU options are not consistent?  and if it turns put that the 4471 is supported will a better power supply be required.
