Hi,

My father recently acquired an old HP ProDesk 400 G2.5 with an i3-4130. He's using it as a home theatre PC and I thought I'd make some upgrades for him. I've put a spare i7-4790k I had lying around in it, but I can't seem to get any signal to the monitor and was wondering if this CPU is even compatible with the proprietary motherboard, which is a HP MS G-013 (V1). I've looked around but can't seem to find any information. The PC powers on but gets no signal to any monitor.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

Hi:

The HP processor specs does not include that processor as supported (pages 4 - 8).

I usually check this benchmarking website to see what folks have installed.

There's no way someone installed a i5-6500T in that model unless they installed a motherboard from a 400 G3.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply. Looking at that manual, it says the 4790 is compatible on page 4, although I think this may be a slightly different model? I believe I have a G2.5 rather than a G2.

You're very welcome.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Here's the specs for the 400 G2.5:

The Prodesk 400 G2.5 uses the Intel 4th gen 'S' processors, when you upgrade beyond the i3-4370.
