HP ProDesk 600 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I'm working in a business and someone bought from a store a use HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF with an i7 4790. During the black friday he bought a low profil GTX1050ti.

When he put the graphic card into the computer he's getting black screen. If we connect the screen into the VGA or Display Port on the motherboard we have an image from the computer. This is  pretty weird. I ask him to bring the computer at the office because we also have HP ProDesk 600 SFF with i5 4570 and different low profil graphic card.

I put his GTX1050ti into one of our HP ProDesk i5 4570 and it's working fine (so the GTX1050ti is working). I take one of our Asus GT710 LowProfil and put it into his HP ProDesk 600 and we're getting black screen again I also try a NVIDIA NVS 310 and get same result.

I update the BIOS to the latest version BIOS Version: 02.70 Rev.A Operating systems: Windows 10 (64 bits) Release date:Nov 7, 2016 File name: sp77880.exe(22.6 MB). It didn't  fix the issue.

We get back togeter at the store with the HP ProDesk 600 with the Intel i7 4790 thinking the PCI Express 16x port is defective. Surprise surprise we try the GTX1050ti, the GT710 and the NVS 310 in three different HP ProDesk 600 SFF i7 4790 at the store and they got all black screen issue. We put all those card in the same model with the i5 4570 and they are all working. I check in the BIOS setting and PCI express port is enable. All HP ProDesk 600 SFF have the same power supply.

I really need help from HP. Why HP ProDesk600 with i7 is not accepting GPU in the PCI Express 16x slot but all model with i5 is working great ?

Thank you for your help

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

I would look at Secure boot settings (Link) if you have not disabled Secure boot and enabled Legacy support in the BIOS.

The replacement graphics cards should initialize with BIOS Legacy support enabled and the correct power supply.

Hello Grzwacz

In the BIOS I went to Security ---> Secure ---> Secure Boot Configuration

Legacy Support    ---->   Enable

Secure Boot    ----->   Disable

Key Management

      Clear Secure Boot Keys --->Don't Clear

       Key Ownership      ----> HP Keys

Fast Boot ---> Disabled

The screen is still black on boot. I also try to remove the BIOS battery completely wait 30 minutes and put it back. Problems persists.

I take the graphic card and put it into HP ProDesk 600 SFF G1 with i5 4570 and it's working, but in the i7 4790 I always get black screen.

Hi MaxITTech,

Gee, I have no idea why the graphics card won't initialize if the power supply is compatible, required power connections to the card are done, and you are following steps to disable Secure boot and enable Legacy support.

You save changes and exit the BIOS, and input the four character security code at restart.

You know the graphics card works in a different PC.

Did you uninstall the previous graphics card drivers before installing the new graphics card?

I would contact HP Support.

Regards
