I have an HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT; i7-6700, 32GB Ram (4x8GB), 1-TB Sata III SSD; Nvidia GT-730, and am looking to upgrade the stock 280 Watt PSU, so as to put in a Nice GPU. I see the 24 pin to 6 pin adapter cables to use with an off the shelf standard ATX PSU and there are countless ones on Amazon, but nearly but nearly all have bad reviews and are returned often because of issues not being pinned out properly. Does anyone know of one or have a link to a good one that works for the HP ProDesk 600 G2 (MT) Micro Tower?

@ger1986,

As a matter of fact, yes, I do know of a couple of reliable and quality ATX power adapter cables for your HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT, and here is one of them: Amazon.com: YEZriler 24 Pin to 6 Pin ATX Power Adapter Sleeved Cable for HP Z200 Z230 4300 6080 8080....

Don't take my word for it?

Here is the AI-generated review based on customer reviews, quote: "Customers are satisfied with the cable assembly's functionality and quality. They say it works well, connects properly, and is a good product."

Thank You Very Very Much~ I have two on my watch list and that just happened to be one of them, but getting confirmation from someone in the group is great.

Now I need to move on to the actual PSU & GPU; modular would be nice so as to have a little bit of cable management on the PSU; Just need to verify measurements on the stock case; whereas I do not want to re-case it. Getting to much money invested into it by doing that and then have to deal with other small details like the I/o shield and a few other small things, but the case being the big expense. I am restricted as you know and n the GPU upgrade regardless of case because of the 3.0 header on the motherboard which I prefer not to eliminate anything; so length on the GPU is going to restrict my GPU upgrade choices.

kind Regards and Thank You Again

Related to another upgrade if you don’t mind me asking. Same computer; HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT ( Micro Tower). Anyway, I just upgraded the CPU from the i5-6500 to the i7-6700, but for now using the same heatsink/fan. Not have a cooling issue, but don’t want one down the line. As you know it’s a full width micro tower, so would like to get a vertical radiator type heat sink with fan, but as you know the heat sink mounting screws go directly into the stock HP case. They are a stock thread best I can tell, but my concern is the proper tension on the CPU with an after market cooler. I know most come with back plates, but I prefer not to pull the motherboard if at all possible. Do you or anyone know of an after market heatsink and fan assembly that may work in the stock HP heat sink case stand offs?

@ger1986,

To illustrate that upgrading your heatsink with a non-HP issued alternative is unfortunately not as straightforward as it really should be, please take a look at this YouTube instructional video pertaining to the CPU heatsink/fan combo upgrade in an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 TWR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvNWbDd-ZCQ&t=509s.

And here is another vid: (2946) HP Pavilion TG01 Cooling Upgrade Noctua CPU Heat sink and Fan Install W/ How To 1 - YouTube, and another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0x69iNsI_c.

Point is, you can upgrade your CPU heatsink, but it most likely requires some effort and quite possibly some modding.

In this video, we take the HP EliteDesk Tower to the next level! Join me as I upgrade the CPU to an Intel Core i7-7700K and install an NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics card. We'll explore performance gains, thermals, and gaming benchmarks. "If you're looking to upgrade the power supply in your HP ...
New PC upgrade in six steps. These video was made in order to see if these parts could fit inside this type of PC tower. And they did. You can install new CPU FAN after RAM upgrade and 12V CPU motherboard cable from PSU in order to have more space. Thanks everyone for the support until now. New PC
