HP ProDesk G2 600 SFF Graphics Upgrades?

Thinking of upgrading the graphics in my HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF. I've been doing research on how possible it is for a RTX A2000 to get in and work. I am aware that I would have to upgrade the power supply (which I am ready for), and also that the PCI Express 3.0 16x won't be very happy with it. I just wanna know how possible it would be to do such a thing.

According to HP PartSurfer, you can upgrade the power supply for your HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF (W5X85UT) with a 320-watt unit, with p/n: 702453-001 "Power supply assembly - Rated at 320W, 12VDC output, 90% efficient (EPA90)".

The low profile/low power (TDP = 70 watt) RTX A2000 6GB or 12GB GDDR6 graphics card is a high-quality, high-performance graphics card, an outstanding choice, IMO.

This card should run well in your desktop, and your PCIe x16 slot should have no issues with it whatsoever, just like this HP ProDesk G2 600 SFF User who fitted a (comparatively somewhat similar performing) Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5: HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

FYI: your desktop is compatible with an i7-6700K (TDP = 91 watt). If you were to go this route, you may have to upgrade your CPU heatsink/cooling fan combo.

You've helped me out quite a bit, but I've started to lean towards the GTX 1070 idea. For that GPU, what would you suggest I get in terms of power supplys? The 1070 is pretty power hungry and 320w isn't gonna cut it with everything else in my desktop. Got any ideas?

Worth every penny, IMO.

If you want to run a GTX 1070 or GTX 1070 Ti, find a (minimum) 500-watt ATX power supply with one 8-pin (6+2-pin) PCIe power cable.

Challenge is to find a low profile GTX 1070 that would physically fit inside your case.  You could park this (any) GPU outside your SFF desktop (which I have done) using a PCIe x16 extension cable connected to a PCIe x16 dock, but this requires more work/expenditures for you.

I'm gonna have a chain of replies for all of these starting with this. I'm currently that one guys build you were talking about. I found the exact model that guy used and it is still in stock. If he was able to fit it, I would assume I would be able to as well.

I will get a 500w power supply with that info soon. Just wondering, is 500w good enough for a smooth experience and no times where the GTX 1070 will stress out the 500w power supply?

A 500-watt power supply is good enough for a GTX 1070 / 1070 Ti 8GB GDDR5, such as GeForce's specs show: GeForce 10 Series Graphics Cards (nvidia.com).
