Hi I have a HP ProDesk G3 600 MT,
Recently I’ve tried to upgrade the graphics card, but no matter what I do, the PC won’t turn on, even Fan is not rotating. This is happening when GPU is attached to PCIe slot (any of the x16).
If the GPU is connected just to the power but not attached to the motherboard then the PC turns on.
I have tried to use nVidia P106L and I have also tried nVidia Tesla k80, I have also tried to use external PSU and PCIe x16 cable extension (due to the size of the GPUs and the power consumption), but that didn’t worked either.
The GPUs and the external power and PCIe cable are not broken (tested them separately) , also just the GPU connected to the external PSU is working well.. so I doubt that PCIe slots are broken or maybe I’m missing something.
Any help would be great hence I was preparing this for my AI project, and I still can’t start it.
Thanks

Hi @Erico thanks for the link share.
I already saw it, but unfortunately it didn’t helped in my case.
I already have two power supplies (PSU) running, the original one from the Prodesk + additional one of 500W only for the GPU.
The problem is: when I connect the GPU to the PCIe slot the PC won’t turn on beside having both power supplies in sync.

"when I connect the GPU to the PCIe slot the PC won’t turn on beside having both power supplies in sync."
The power supplies are not in "sync". For that to be the case they would both need to be connected to the motherboard. Trying to connect them in series to gain wattage capability just is not practical..
It is always recommended, as best practice, to use GPU components that are known to work with a motherboard.
That helps to save money and reduce frustration.
Have you found instances where others have successfully used the GPU that you are using with the motherboard?

I’m using dual power sync starter forthe PSUs, so both are stared at the same time.
This is tested without GPU plugged in, and it works.
The issue only happens when I plugin the GPU in the PCIe slot.
For this particular motherboard that comes with G3 600, I haven’t found any thread that Tesla k80 or P106L graphics cards are used.
From the technical specifications for both the motherboard and the GPUs it shouldn’t be any issue, at least in theory, while in practice that seems to be false. The whole motherboard simply loses power, even the small green light inside doesn’t light.
I also tried to find a way in Bios to disable the power on the PCIe slot , but there isn’t such an option in the BIOS.
I assume the only solution would be to find more powerful PSU with the connector for this motherboard to eliminate the case of not enough power (assuming PCIe slot is still working)
I hope this gives more insight to the problem I have.
