Hello, please help me. I have my new device hp proone 400 g3 20.0-in touch aio with i3-7100T CPU (Socket 1151) I would like to make an upgrade to 8th or 9th gen of Intel processors (all these have the same Socket 1151). I need someone to tell me if the upgrade is possible.
On this page https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05620026#AbT2 I found that this device has probably ever been shipped with Intel Core i7-7700T CPU (probably top version of this product). So in case that upgrade on 8th or 9th gen intel wouldnt be possible, upgrade from 7100T to 7700T should be ok, am I right?
Thank you for answers, I read some thread where someone said, that although the socket is the same (1151) the problem may be with Chipset (am not good at these things, so if someone could please explain). I though that maybe BIOS upgrade may be the problem, but... if there is someone who has experience with it and tried it, thanks for help.
Best regards,
AK

From what I read on the internet your ProOne 400 G3 uses the Intel H270 chipset which supports only skyLake processors
You are limited to generation 6 or 7 CPUs that use only 35 watts
Your i3 runs at 3.4ghz and the i7 at 3.8
IMHO that is not a significant improvement in speed and both CPUs use the 630 video chipset so no real improvement in graphics.
