The PC was in use with an INTEL i5-6500T. I replaced the CPU with an INTEL i7-6700 according the Maintenance and Service Guide. (open PC, replace CPU, close PC)
As i turn the PC on, i got an error (3x red Front-LED, 4x white FrontLED) which should mean a "The system board displays a power failure (crowbar).* " No external devices have been attached nor any other parts were modified.
- This could be reproduced with a second i7-6700, which is running without trouble in another system (not same model of PC).
- As soon as i reuse the old i3-CPU, everything works fine.
- The BIOS was updated last week.
Is there another step in the instructions (setting jumpers or something else) which can be easily overlooked?

Hi:
Is your Prodesk 600 G2 DM the 35W model or the 65W model?
The i7-6700 is only supported in the 600 G2 DM 65W model.
The i7-6700T is only supported in the 600 G2 DM 35W model.
I have attached the HP Quickspecs for the Elitedesk 800 G2 model series below.
I could not find one for the 600 G2 model series, but they use the same processors.

You're very welcome.
What is the product number for your PC?
That should indicate if it is the 35W or 65W model.
The product number is arranged like this, for example: 5ES85EA#ABA
You can find it in the Windows system information window or your PC's BIOS.

This is interesting...
The parts list does not indicate if the PC is the 65W or 35W model, but it does have a 65W power supply.
But if the processor itself is 65W, I doubt a 65W power supply could power the entire system.
However, it does list the two supported processors...
Intel Quad Core processor i5-6500T - 2.5GHz 35W 6 MB SmartCache, socket FCLGA1151
Processor - i7-6700T 2.8GHz 35W 8MB R-0
I'm pretty sure your PC is the 35W model, and that if you install the i7-6700T, it should work fine.

I realize I misspoke in my post . It should be exactly the opposite and consistent with your statement.
So my machine just does not have enough juice for it. But as you mentionned, the parts list did not indicate if the PC is the 65W or 35W one. So this was tricky one for me. Thank you a lot.
