I'm recently acquired this PC and saw online I could upgrade to an intel i7 6700k which I just had lying around. Thing is, I'm worried about the temps and the max TDP the motherboard can provide. Should I be worried about either? Should I upgrade the fan to something like a noctua NH-L9i? Or should I just send it and worry about nothing?
The temps so far on the i5 6500 seem to be fine and I'm running a dedicated modded Minecraft server currently.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Unless you are really stressing your PC to the limit, I wouldn't worry too much about the heat, but make sure you use a quality thermal paste such as Arctic MX-4.
Kind Regards,
