HP Slim 270-p013wb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, Just found/picked up a HP Slim 270-p013wb.  I have an extra 250 gb ssd that I'm not using and was thinking about adding it to this machine.  Is that possilbe to add an SSD and still keep the 3.5 HDD??

Thanks in advance

Dale

since you don't state if the SSD is SATA or NVME,.... 2.5 or m.2 or mSATA for the form factor, nobody can say if your ssd will work

so sorry about that, It's a 2.5 form factor and sata drive.

Any ideals would be helpful and thanks for the help.

since this motherboard only has 2 sata ports and both are used for the internal drive/dvd and there is only one 16x pci-e port

is the pci-e slot in use? if not a pci-e x2 sata card can be used

if the pci-e port is in use buy a USB 3.0 to 2.5 HD enclosure and use the ssd as a external drive

Hi,

If you use the SSD as an external drive, it is not going to give any performance gain, you would be better off using the 3.5"mechanical drive as an external drive in that case.

Anyway, if you do not use the DVD drive, you can remove the cable from the DVD drive and attach to the mechanical drive. Now you can use the SATA connector for the SSD.

The PC also has an M2 slot which you could use for an M2 SSD.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks for those tips.  I am also considering getting a pcie card to expand the internal sata ports.  Have found them pretty cheap and I will not be using the pcie port for any video cards or anything like that.

I may look at getting a cheap m2 SSd sinde they have the port already made in to the board.

Thanks so so much for helping me.

Dale
