Wow!
Thank You!
I'll get into the YouTube stuff shortly. Luckily today isn't too loaded - I am too often buried in the management of our self-managed condo.
I don't have any personal or business files on the C drive that I feel I have to back up. That's all on the E, F, G and H drives that are plugged into it.
Your suggestion to take the case off my tower may be helpful - I have to think about it. The thing is practically hidden under the side table of my desk, with a lot of stuff plugged into it. Maybe I can get it out of there enough with a pillow under my knees - but I'll have to get it out for the Geeks anyway. Yes, I hope they can communicate.
Thank you again, NonSeq!
With my warmest regards,
Pete

Hi again, Nonseq,
Monday evening I stripped my tower down until I could see and access the C drive.
So the Geek came to visit on Tuesday morning. Pretty sharp young (American!) man. He had not been advised as to my actual problem. He took one look at the nice work area I had prepared, listened to my problem, and to his credit immediately said he could not do the work here.
He spent nearly an hour with me while we discussed what could and could not be done, and where and when, by the Geek Squad (possible expense as high as $500). Then he left.
My cost will be zero instead of their normal home call $130.
So I stared at things for a bit, then I dove in. Long story short, I am up and running on the new SSD - the tower is all back together and everything is working perfectly!
I have you to blame for that, of course, because your instruction, over several emails, were spot on ALL the way! AND I got to clean up the dust hole that had been hiding behind my floor-mounted tower.
I cannot thank you enough, sir! Please chaulk up one Very Happy forum participant due to the good fortune of running into and working with you.
Accolades to you, NonSequitur777!
Warmest regards,
Pete in Niantic, CT
