HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01-0145m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased an HP L08261-002 PSU to replace my current flaky unit. Both have a mini 7 pin connector. The old one only has 3 wires ( black,green, grey). The new unit has 7 wires various colors. Both units have exactly same model number and specs. Question: is it safe to plug in ? Or should I disconnect the " extra" wires from the new PSU?

Or return?

@Babbitslinger,

You raised an excellent question, both power supplies appear very similar -except the 7-pin connector as you observed. From my perspective, and this according to your desktop's hardware specs (see, for example: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=3UQ91AA&searchby=product) and this HP compatible power supply chart (see: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...), only the 180 watt HP L08660-800 and the 310 watt HP L64961-800 power supplies are referenced as being compatible.

Since in my own experience HP is rather peculiar when it comes to its power supplies, my recommendation is to return and get one of the aforementioned power supplies.

Kind Regards,

hi

What works for one erica model, must work for another model
so see / check, but possible that the 500w is compatible!
