HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Why is it so hard to find upgrades? I am very much wishing I never bought this HP. All I want is two simple things - The ability to enable XMP on this garbage can, since I have ddr4 3200mhz ram, that is running at 2133mhz (no bios setting! SHOCKER!) and the ability to upgrade my garbage 180w PSU. WHERE CAN I FIND THE INFO FOR THIS? I was talked into this PC since GPU prices were crazy at the time, but I should have waited. This PC is NOT a "gaming" PC if you can't perform basic upgrades.

@Baene-71,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV / 404Q2PA) can be fitted with an OEM HP 500 watt power supply (p/n: L05757-800) which has a PCIe 2+6-pin power cable, as per Power Supply Cross Reference for specific models - HP Support Community - 7483923.

According to: https://support.hp.com/lv-en/document/c07916587, your desktop should be able to run up to 2 x 16GB (32GB total) RAM at 3200 MHz.

Unfortunately, HP computers are finnicky when it comes to RAM and achieving maximum RAM speed.  Something I had to deal with myself.  [will EDIT in a moment with more information.  Done, see my next post]

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for the reply. My model isn't listed in the power supply cross-reference. I have a TP01-2000a. No mention of that one, unless I missed it. THIS IS WHAT AGGRAVATES ME. A 500w PSU would be MUCH better than what I have now. I keep getting bottlenecks due to power and ram speed. It's ridiculous. Also, I didn't really want to have to adjust memory timing/voltage/etc. through software.

EDIT : The boards listed are also (in my category) are the Erica 1 and Erica 2. I have an Erica 6. I won't spend a ridiculous amount of money on an overpriced HP PSU only to find out it won't work. This is my problem.

Also, my model has the AMD Radeon RX 5500 in it. It keeps getting power throttled, and my ram has been updated to 2x8gb 3200mhz sticks. I just want them to run faster than 2133mhz.

@Baene-71,

Yea, trust me, I understand your frustration.

@Baene-71,

The TP01 and TE01 have the same proprietary HP power connections.  The L05757-800 is compatible with your desktop as suggested by expert HP Forum Users: Solved: upgrades - HP Support Community - 8234279.

You can get a 500 watt L05757-800 power supply here: L05757-800 original HP Desktop-PC power supply 500 Watt - sparepartworld.com for $111.30.  HP doesn't have it in stock (HP PartSurfer), and the cheapest unit via eBay (sold in the US) starts at $204.

Hope this was helpful.

This REALLY makes me angry. I bought Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 1.35V Desktop Memory, and you're telling me Corsair Vengeance can't be run at 3200mhz on this thing. Cannot stress ENOUGH just how unhappy I am that I ever bought an HP. I know it was inexpensive, but no one deserves this level of garbage.
