Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Touchsmart Envy 23-d044 all in one, product number H4A37AA#ABA, which currently has 2 4GB DDR3 SoDimm installed. One of the two 4GB modules is DDR3L and the other is standard DDR3.  I used the Crucial.com upgrade advisor tool which suggested two 8GB DDR3L modules to replace the existing memory.
When I install the 2 8GB DDR3L modules, the machine will power on, but the display not backlight come on.

Troubleshooting steps performed:

Updated to latest BIOS version.

Attempted installing 1x 4GB along with 1x 8GB, and continued tested this method with different combinations without success.
Finally I replaced the original 2 4GB modules and the PC boots up correctly.

Questions:

Will this Pc support 2x 8GB DDR3 (not low voltage?)

Has anyone successfully upgraded the memory on this machine to 16GB?

Any thoughts/suggestions will be appreciated!

hi

6 GB

  • Amount: 6 GB
  • Speed: PC3-12800 MB/sec
  • Type: DDR3-1600

From what hp says here, that's not what you have in place?

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR3 SO-DIMMs (204-pin) sockets
    • PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
    • PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
  • Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB (8 GB only available on systems using Ivy Bridge processors) DDR3 SO-DIMMs
  • Supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit PCs (16 GB only available on systems using Ivy Bridge processors)
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit* PCs
*32-bit PCs cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.

Intel Core i3 3220

it seems ok for that

so if the two modules do not work at all, incompatible, to be replaced, not too many choices here
