Hi @dhruv21995,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Wireless Keyboard M201 has experienced a lock on the Windows key (often referred to as the Win key) after a random key combination. This issue can sometimes be resolved with a few troubleshooting steps. Here's a detailed guide to help you get the Windows key functioning again:

1. Check Keyboard Setting:

  • Some keyboards have a function (Fn) key lock feature that might be affecting the Windows key. Look for a key labeled Fn Lock or a similar symbol on your keyboard.

2. Perform a Keyboard Reset

  • Turn off your wireless keyboard by pressing the power button or removing the batteries.
  • Remove the wireless USB receiver from your computer and then reinsert it.
  • Turn the keyboard back on and check if the Windows key is responsive.

3. Check Keyboard Driver

  • Update or Reinstall Driver:
    • Windows:
      1. Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select it).
      2. Find Keyboards, expand it, and right-click your keyboard device.
      3. Select Update Driver and choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
      4. If updating doesn’t help, select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

4. Check for Keyboard Shortcut Conflict

  • Ensure that no third-party software (e.g., gaming software or keyboard remapping tools) is conflicting with the keyboard functions.
  • If you have gaming software (e.g., for Counter-Strike), check if it has settings that might lock or remap the Windows key.

5. Use Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Run the Keyboard troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

6. Check Keyboard for Hardware Issues:

  • Connect the keyboard to another computer to see if the Windows key works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the keyboard or your computer.

7. Inspect LED Indicator Codes:

  • The blinking LED pattern (Num lock + Power lock LED blinks 7 to 14 times) may indicate a specific issue. Refer to your keyboard’s manual or HP’s support website to decode these LED patterns.

8. Check for System Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and checking for updates:
  • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language, and ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
