Hi All

I have the the HP 515 Ultra Fast Rechargeable mouse, no matter what laptop/desktop I know plug this into I receive the following in Device Manager 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

I have tried Uninstalling Drivers etc. but now cannot get this device to work. Any idea's? Also worth noting it is in warranty.

Many thanks

Dan

Hi @DanJ7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the issue occur on all laptops/desktops you’ve tried, or only specific ones?
  • Have you noticed if the mouse is charging properly (LED indicators working)?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check USB Ports: Try plugging the receiver into a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0 if available).
  2. Update Chipset/USB Drivers: Visit your PC manufacturer’s support page and update the chipset and USB controller drivers.
  3. Run Windows Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.
  4. Test on Another System: If possible, connect the mouse to another computer to confirm whether the issue is with the mouse or the system.

Since your device is still under warranty, if these steps don’t resolve the issue, then we can help with the other options.

I hope this helps.
