HP Z1 G9

Hello, I've tried to look at the technical specs of the Z1 G9 and it isn't very clear if it's possible to install a secondary 4TB NVMe drive into this machine. The operating system is installed on a 512GB NVMe plugged into the primary M.2 slot, but I want more storage and I would prefer not to use SATA SSDs if I can avoid it.

The motherboard installed is a HP 894D

All you need is a PCIe NVME  M.2 adapter that plugs into an available PCIe slot.

They are relatively inexpensive. I have been using them for a few years now in my gaming desktop PC. My preference is the ASUS brand.
