I wonder if anybody can help me find the pint out diagram for theFront USB 9 pin connector.  I am looking to get the desktop managed by a PiKVM and this needs the ATX pins to be accessible.  I can find the connector on the motherboard but struggling to find out what each of the 9 pins actually do.  I have googled and chatgpt'd but they dont return any answers.  Help much appreciated!!

I looked at a video that shows disassembly of the Z2 G4 but the front panel USB is the 19 pin USB3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAwtfaW6evU

The back of the system has the USB2 connectors for the keyboard and mouse.

If you want to attached to the USB3 then use an adapter to go from 19 pins to 9 pins

Either this type or the ones with pins

You may want to use a splitter to keep the front panel functionality

thanks for the reply.  My usb 2 connector is different from the one you have shown as mine has 9 pins but the no pin is in the middle.

There are several versions of the Z2 G4  including a "mini"

I take it that the video i referenced does not match your system.

Please provide the Product ID or exact Model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol.

If you go here and put in your serial number you might find a USB cable part number that could be looked up

The front ports on the AZ G4 tower are all USB-3 and are connected at the standard 19 pin header.  There is an optional USB3 port so there must be more than a single 19 pin USB3 header.

There are at least two motherboards, one is socket 2066, the other is socket 1151.

The 1151 motherboard has a 9 pin header like below. Is the p161 labeled header the one?

[edit] It is named p5 in better picture

If so, I have no idea what it is.  Perhap one of the long time HP volunteers like @SDH or @NonSequitur777 might know.

The reason I asked you to use your serial number to find the cable at https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/

was because (1) it is not allowed to post serial numbers and (2) The cable can be examined and possibly the pin assignments can be guessed at.  A multimeter meter can be used to determine ground and +5 and the remaining data pins can be determined as they are usually in pairs.  The pinout has 16 solder connections (p101) but 8 are used.

The front panel has

3. 1 USB 3.0 port
4. 1 USB 3.0 Battery Charging Port
5. (Optional) 1 USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C™ Battery Charging Port

I do not know what the pinout is but if the cable connects to one of the above ports the pinout can be found by examining the port and reverse engineering back to the header.  This is easier than using a multimeter.

I am out of ideas, sorry.
