Hi, I’m trying to get support for my HP Z3700 wireless mouse. It stopped working and the USB receiver is detected, but the mouse won’t respond. I tried entering the serial number printed on the back, but HP’s support site says it’s invalid. I purchased it from HP's website and it’s still under warranty. Can someone help me escalate this

Hi @betel1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP Z3700 wireless mouse is detected but not responding, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Batteries: Ensure that the batteries in the mouse are fresh and properly installed. Sometimes, replacing the batteries can resolve the issue.

Reconnect the USB Receiver:

  • Disconnect the USB receiver from the computer and wait for a few seconds.
  • Reconnect it to a different USB port.

Test the Mouse on Another Device:

  • Connect the USB receiver to another computer to see if the mouse works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the mouse or your computer.

Check for Interference:

  • Ensure that there is no interference from other wireless devices, which can affect the mouse's performance.

Update Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager in Windows, and update the drivers for "Human Interface Devices" and "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Remove and Pair Again:

  • If possible, remove the device from Bluetooth settings, restart your computer, and attempt to pair the mouse again.

Reset the Mouse:

  • Some wireless mice have a reset button that can be pressed to reinitialize the connection with the USB receiver. Check if your HP Z3700 has such a feature.

These steps can help diagnose whether the issue is with the mouse or the computer's USB ports or settings. If the mouse works on another device, the problem may be specific to your computer's settings or USB ports.
