For an i9-9820X, you have to use DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, dual-rank (2Rx8) 288-pin RAM sticks (or: DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz RAM, which will down throttle to 2666 MHz).  See this HP Z4 Tower G4 Workstation User: HP Z4 G4 Workstation Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
