HP Z4 G5 Workstation Desktop PC RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello all!

I have HP Z4 G5 workstation with 775W PSU, I already asked here, and got the answer, that I can upgrade to 1125W PSU.

This is because I wish to upgrade from single RTX A6000 ADA to 2 x RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation-Edition.

New power supply should be enough, dimensions wise the GPUs should be ok.

1. But in general, is this HP Z4 G5 system compatible with 2 x RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation-Edition?

I saw somewhere the specfile for the workstation, and the new GPUs were there, but this web page is not available anymore.

2. Also, my system has 1 x PCIe 5.0, the rest are PCIe 4.0, is it a problem performance wise?

Thank you in advance for the answers.

Best regards,

Anton

Hi @AN_MEC

The first thing you should consider is buying an extra fan.

Dual graphics configuration requires the HP Z4 Fan and Front Card Guide. If configured as an after
market option, a separate purchase of the HP Z4 Fan and Front Card Guide 56Q79AA is required. If factory
configured, the fan and front card guide is included

According to this page, there are no problems using that graphics card,

Of course, a Gen 5 slot has more bandwidth than a Gen 4 slot. My recommendation is to use Gen 4 slots to avoid problems, but if you are using a single graphics card, use the Gen 5 slot.

Hi!

Thank you the answer, and for the information.

Regarding the fan, I already have this option (56Q79AA), I had to install it even with the single A6000Ada.

Otherwise, there were a warning massage (which I could skip) during the boot.
