Z420 Workstation
Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)

I have Z420 workstation and it looks my 8 port PCI-e card drivers seems to be working when checked under properties for all eight ports under device manager\ com ports but its still not actually working. Under device Manager \other devices it says no drivers installed for PCI witherror code 28( as its marked yellow). Checked the details on properties and Device instance ID is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D6B&SUBSYS_1589103C&REV_05\4&118236C4&0&0088. Any suggestion and help will be appreciated.

Hi:

The hardware ID you posted is for the Intel SAS RAID controller.

You need this driver for that device...

This package contains the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise Utility and Driver for serial ATA (SATA) and SATA RAID drives in supported workstation models that are running a supported operating system. Updated version.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56779.exe

The hardware ID is found in the iaStorS setup information file.

 %Intel_SATA_RAID.Desc% = Intel_SCU_iaStorS_Inst,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D6B
