I recently bought a used HP Z440 off eBay to upgrade and add parts to, however upon installing new RAM, SSD and a GPU, I've been unable to boot and have received a memory error (signaled by 5 beeps alongside a flashing red light when powering up). I should note the RAM is 2x8gb sticks of non ECC 3200mhz DDR4. I was wondering if the fact the RAM is non ECC might be the problem or something else. Another thing to note, although I'm not sure if this is simply a product of the error and not booting up is that my GPU (Rx 580 8gb) shows a red light upon power which I believe indicates it doesn't have enough power. Another thing in addition to this is I'm using a 2x6pin to 8pin adapter for the GPU. If any of you can spot the problem in this id be extremely grateful. I also haven't installed any OS yet as the SSD is brand new and I am hoping to do that as soon as it boots.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
The RAM has to be ECC RDIMM or else you'll get memory errors -like you are getting.
If you got the 525-watt power supply, consider getting the 700-watt PSU. Using the 6-pin PCIe to 8-pin PCIe power adapters is A-OK (at least on the 700-watt PSU) as the 6-pin PCIe power cables are rated 12V x 18A = 216 watt, which makes these adapters save to use:
I recently upgraded an HP Z440 Workstation, which was a lot of fun: Solved: Upgrading an HP Z440 Workstation - HP Support Community - 9015888.

Yep. Thanks a lot for the help. I will buy some new ram to make sure that's the problem. And I have already got the 700w power supply I believe (at least that's what the sticker on it says). Hopefully this is the only problem! Also just wondering if there is any way to possibly make non-ECC DDR4 RAM work such as a BIOS setting?
