HP Z6 G4 Compatible Components (cpu, gpu, ram, ssd)?

Is there a list of compatible components for the HP Z6 G4? I would like to make upgrades but I am not sure if it's plug and play or if it's locked in to hp specific products, etc.

Thank you for your response. Since this is a lga 3647 socket, will all lga3647 processors work?

Excellent question.  Short answer: most will.

Caveat: HP listed all the compatible (read: the ones they tested and approved -NOT a complete list, btw) socket 3647 processors in the links I provided in my previous post.  Such as the Xeon W-3223 (8 Cores, 16 Threads) all the way to the Xeon W-3275 (28 Cores, 56 Threads).

Even though the Xeon-W "M" versions were not listed by HP, they are also compatible with your HP Z6 G4 Workstation, if you go through the HP Z6 G4 Workstation UserBenchMark link. Here is the list of the highest scoring top 16:

Socket 3647 compatibility starting from the Xeon W-3223:

Summarizing: I would recommend sticking with HP's "approved" processors, or the ones you can find in the UserBenchMark link.

Thank you!! Last thing, does this apply to NVME ssd's as well? The one's I do see ar HP branded but I can only imagine inserting any ssd will work? I don't believe they are locked, as far as I can see?

That is affirmative: applies to M.2 NVMe SSDs as well.  Looks like you got two Gen3 M.2 slots:

Not too shabby for a legacy 7th gen Intel processor platform -but I digress.
