Good day, all.

Our company purchased the new PCs HP Z8 TWR G5 and was happy, until the 1st use this graphic towers. They are too slow to work and OS loads about 20-30 min. After joining the system all operations are slow. For example open documents, files, virtual machines, and others. We don't know why it happens. We tried reinstalling OS, drivers, and all software but still have this problem. Does anybody know why it's happened with these towers and what we should to do for repair it and work normally?

Thx!

it really depends on what type of storage is on the inside if its one of the 7200rpm hard drives then that's possibly what's going wrong, I would recommend using ssd's instead the best are nvme ssd's

Actually, there is NVMe SSD 512 installed. So the problem is not with storage. Onboard characteristics are below :

1. OS Name - Microsoft Windows 11 Pro for Workstations (x64)

2. Version - 10.0.22621 Build 22621

3. System Model - HP Z8 G5 Workstation Desktop PC

4. Processor - Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4410Y, 2000 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)

5. BIOS Version/Date - HP U60 Ver. 01.01.18, 6/6/2023

6. BIOS Mode - UEFI

7. Installed Physical Memory - (RAM) 32.0 GB

VIDEO:

1. Name - NVIDIA RTX A5000 (24GB)

STORAGE:

1. Model - SAMSUNG MZVL2512HCJQ-00BH1 (512GB)

@Gaba-Zhaba,

That is puzzling indeed, as the HP Z8 G5 Workstation Desktop PC should be blazingly fast and responsive.

From an IT or IMS (information management service) perspective, you could consider HP tech service, or if this is lacking, have a qualified PC or IT technician take a look at it.

HELLO,

thanks for your reply.

Yes, it's really puzzling and we were disappointed. I am an IT professional and have tested all the components of this tower and have not found any problems here, but the tower is too slow. Even such a simple process as switching input on the keyboard takes 3-6 seconds, not to mention other operations. It looks like we will have to deal with the problem more deeply if there are no quick solutions. Please tell me how to open a ticket in support HP so that they will pay attention to this problem and help me solve this issue?

PROBLEM SOLVED

At the beginning, I thought that the problem was with the adapter for the psi express slot through which the SSD drive is connected and thought there was a bottleneck in this place. But when I tested the SSD, I realized that there were no problems with it. Then I thought that the problem was in the processor core itself or in multithreading, but I didn’t find any problems here either. Then I started testing all the PC nodes but still couldn’t find anything. Everything turned out to be so banal that it’s even embarrassing to write about it. It turned out that the problem was not in the hardware itself, but in the OS settings, more precisely in the power settings. The "minimum processor state" settings were set to 5% - this was the cause of all the troubles. After changing it to 100% all problems with the lags disappeared.Untitled.png
