HP Z800
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've enabled the Compute for PCIe-16 slots and now it's not booting anymore. It beeps 6 times and pause then beep again. There is no LED light on the power button when it boots.  Here's what I have done so far to troubleshoot this error and it still beeps 6 times.

  1. reset CMOS/BIOS by removing the battery
  2. remove cards from all the slots
  3. remove memory card and leave only two sticks in

Help is much appreciated.

one last thing to try is to remove power cord, press the pwr button for 10 sec

open side cover, remove the cmos battery, wait 20 sec then press the cmos reset button for 5 sec

replace cmos battery, side cover and pwr cord and reboot, and if video shows enter bios and set time/date and reboot again

I have done all that and still beeping. I ended up in replacing the system board and it works.

and we have another case of people not knowing what a bios setting does, in the future i strongly recommend you find out what a bios setting does before changing it

the "compute" setting tells the bios to turn off the video features of the video card installed in this pci-e slot and only use the card as a compute device if you turned this on for every slot then your in a major problem as none of the pci-e slots will now output video when a video card is installed

if you did not set this option for the PCI slots, then you can remove the PCI-e video card insert a PCI video card and change the bios settings back to disabled

if you did change these also, then you are out of luck till i get around to booting my z800 and writing up the necessary key presses for you to type in blindly to reset this bios setting

I  would note the exact keypresses (in order) needed to change the PCI-e slot compute to disabled that holds the video card

and if your current replacement board fails you can the revive the original one
