Hello,
I am trying to upgrade M.2SSD on my PC since n075na model only has 128GB and it is causing a problem for my work.
On the manual for HP ENVY All-in-One - 24-n075na, it only has a description on how to replace HDD. Before I start to open up the PC and mess about, can someone please tell me it does have M.2 SSD slot?
Presume it has one ( I am sure it does), will Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD 500GB (MZ-N5E500BW) fit into the slot?

Hi Ginoic
Just for info I have checked inside my HP Envy 24-n079na and have looked very carefully, yes there is am M2 socket. After you remove the rear plastic cover, you must remove another cover panel and the M2 socket is in the lower left corner. The fitted M2 ssd is made by Samsung but only shows HP part numbers which is not very helpful when finding a replacement direct from the manufacturer.
I'm not too sure how comfortable you are with removing the back cover, as shown in the users manual there are 2 Philips screws, 1 in each corner of the base. You must unscrew these completely, they will not fall out of the socket but must be unscrewed fully to release the cover. Do not prise the cover away from the screen
The cover is released by SLIDING it upwards towards the top edge of the screen. Refitting is just the reverse.
Underneath the plastic cover is a metal cover over the motherboard, this held on by half dozen Philips screws. Be careful not to drop the screws and make sure your screwdriver is not magnetised. The metal cover will just lift off and all will be revealed!
Good luck

Hi Johness,
Appreciate for the very detail guide.
I am not very comfortable with removing parts on PC but I should be okay given you have outlined the basics.
If you have seen the M.2 Socket could you specify me which socket type it is? From big dave's post he suggests the socket type could be 22110 or 2280.
The PC is at my work so I won't be able to pull out parts right now hence I am posting it here.
Thanks again for the infos!

Hi Ginoic,
I have looked carefully at the existing SSD and the more I look the more questions there are.
I have examined replacement M2 ssd on the Samsung website and the first issue is that there are 2 M2 interfaces - M2 SATA3 and NVMe M2 PCIe 3.0 x4 . From what I can see in my own machine is that the interface looks like the NVMe M2 PCIe.
A further complication is that the installed 125gb SSD is rated at 3.3v at 1.9amps. The replacement Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD is rated at 3.3v at 2.7 amps a 50% power increase. This raises the question of whether the motherboard is equipped for the load.
I think we both need some professional advice here as I suspect a mistake would be VERY expensive.
Good Luck

Hi Ginoic,
I have spoken to a tech guy at a large UK pc and components retailer and he assures me that the amperage issue is not a problem as there is plenty of power available.
I notice that an HP Technical adviser will be available on Sep. 20th maybe this is a question for him.
For the time being I have gone as far as I can unless another Forum member can give us a definitive answer.
If and when you upgrade your SSD don't forget you will need to clone the existing SSD. For this you will need appropriate software such as Acronis True Image and you will also need a USB/M.2 PCIe portable interface.
You mentioned big dave's post referring to 22110 and 2280, these I think are the card dimensions.
If I take the plunge I will keep the Forum informed.
Good luck

Be carefull of which type of M.2 SSD that you want to use. I haven't seen any HP documentation indicating that a NVMe m.2 SSD would be supported.
Know what the return policy is before you buy.
