Can anyone tell me where the memory slots for the memory sticks are in the PC as I have it apart and I can't find them anywhere

Take a look at the parts list for your PC at the link below.

 

HP PartSurfer

 

Click on the camera icon to the left of either motherboard part number you see listed there.

 

It doesn't matter which motherboard you choose.

 

It will show where the memory slots are.

 

The memory is covered by a metal shield as shown in this link.
