Chrome OS

I purchased the HP Chromebase desktop and as soon as I set it up, I changed the setting to use the top row buttons as function keys (which works perfectly on all other chromebooks). It does not work in the HP Chromebase. I bought this to use for work. A huge part of my tasks are pressing F2 to move to the next field and it doesn't work. It does refresh, as if I hadn't changed the setting to use the top row buttons as function keys. Please help.

Hi @chenache,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Chromebase Desktop. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Have you tried to use an external keyboard?
  • Have you tried to reset the Chromebook?

While you respond to that, Let's perform a powerwash:

Factory reset your Chromebook

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
  3. Select Restart.
  4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash and then Continue.
  5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account.
  6. Once you've reset your Chromebook:

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am using the keyboard that came with the chromebase. I tried doing a factory reset and it worked at first but then it stopped working again. What's the next step? Is it a defective unit?
