HP compaq elite 8300 CMT cpu upgrade

Hello, I have a Hp Compaq Elite 8300 cmt with a Intel Core i5 3550. I was looking to upgrade the cpu to a i7 3770s, the lower wattage model. Will my pc be compatible with this cpu?

Here is the Illustrated Parts and Service Map for the workstation.  On Page 2 is a list of compatible Processors.  It shows the i7-3770, but not the S verion.  Therefore, I can't be possitive that it will work.  HP would normally have it listed if it has been tested.

I was searching around and I had found this. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03343457 If you scroll all the way down to where it says Convertible Minitower. It lists a core i7 3770S in the list of cpus. Thats what made me unsure about it. Does this mean it will work?

According to the document that I provided for you it states that the document was developed in 2012.  The i7-3770s was released Q2'12.  So, it may be that the processor wasn't tested for compatibility by HP at that time.  I don't want to tell you that it will work and it doesn't.  The processor is in End of Life status at this point.  You have to be the one to decide if it is worth taking the chance to try it.
