Hi, want to know if an HP e231 monitor has displayport 1.2 or higher, so that I can daisy chain it with my HP e27d monitor.

@Morrissey82,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I researched your question -and I could be mistaken (disclaimer), but the best available information I could find is that the HP EliteDisplay E231 monitor does have a DisplayPort input, but unfortunately, does not support DisplayPort 1.2 with Multi-Stream Transport (MST) -which is required for daisy-chaining monitors.

Key Specs for the HP E231:

  • DisplayPort 1.1a input only

  • No DisplayPort output (necessary for daisy-chaining)

  • No MST (Multi-Stream Transport) support

Because of this, you won’t be able to daisy-chain the E231 with your HP E27d, which does support DisplayPort 1.2 MST and can act as a daisy-chain source.

Recommendation:

If you want to set up multiple displays in a chain using your E27d:

  • You’ll need a second monitor that supports DP 1.2 with MST and includes a DisplayPort output.

  • The E231 can still be used as a standalone secondary monitor via its DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA input.

Let me know if you’d like help finding a daisy-chain-compatible monitor to pair with your E27d!

Kind Regards,
