My hp p500 1tb SSD is no longer working. I've reset it multiple times, tried different cables, different ports, and various other web solutions and nothing is working. It has a hard time registering and sometimes shows as having 0b remaining even though it is completely empty now. Its been a little glitchy ever since I got it but recently its almost stopped working completely. Now my steam/ any downloads are not recognizing it properly and it is either a. not downloading or b. downloading so slow it says it will take 5days. My computer drivers are all up to date and my network speed is way higher than its reading to download. Also the product is not coming up when i try to check for a warranty as well as trying to find the product on the hp website its product number is: 1F5P4AA#ABC and the serial number is: HASC43170802692

Hi @JenNo761
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP P500 1TB SSD is experiencing a significant issue, and it could be related to a variety of factors, including hardware failure, firmware corruption, or even a damaged connection. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this:
1. Check the SSD in Different Systems
If you haven’t already, try plugging the SSD into another computer or laptop, preferably one with a different operating system (e.g., a Linux live session or a different Windows machine). This will help rule out any potential software-related issues or corrupt drivers.
- If the SSD still shows up with issues on another machine, then the problem is likely with the SSD itself.
- If it works on another computer, the issue could be related to your computer’s settings or hardware.
2. Check in Disk Management (Windows)
Your SSD may be facing a partition issue or could be corrupted. You can check this using Disk Management:
- Open Disk Management:
- Press Windows + X and select Disk Management.
- Check for the SSD:
- Look for the HP P500 SSD in the list of drives. If it’s not listed or has any unusual status (like "Unallocated" or "Not Initialized"), it could indicate a failure or partition corruption.
- Fix Partition Issues:
- If you see your SSD but with errors or unallocated space, you may need to delete the existing partition and create a new one:
- Right-click on the SSD and select Delete Volume (this will erase all data, so make sure to back up anything you can).
- After deleting the partition, right-click the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume to reformat and partition it.
- If you see your SSD but with errors or unallocated space, you may need to delete the existing partition and create a new one:
3. Check for Firmware Updates
Firmware issues can often cause glitches in SSD performance. If possible, check if there is a firmware update available for the HP P500 SSD.
Visit the HP support page for your specific SSD model, or look on other trusted SSD tool sites
Firmware updates can sometimes resolve issues with drive performance, including problems with recognition, download speed, or other glitches.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
