Hello,

I use a HP t630 Thin Client for teleworking. I have to startup with an encrypted USB stick that decrypts a Ubuntu installation. The decription process takes almost 4 minutes.

Will increasing my RAM from 8 GB to 32 GB decrease the startup time or is the 1.8 GHz processor of the t630 my bottleneck and will extra RAM not improve performance of the decryption process at all?

Thanks in advance!

SJW

PS my 3.4 GHz desktop with 8GB starts up almost twice as fast with the same USB stick. That's why I think the processor speed might be the reason, not the RAM. Or will adding RAM always increase speed of the decryption process?

The biggest bottleneck is the processor and the chipset.

Extra RAM will only have a very slight effect on the thin client's operation, but not on the decryption.

Thanks a lot! I won't upgrade my RAM for the time being.

Kind regards,
