Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Z240SFF desktop PC that won't turn on. I highly suspect the PSU and am currently waiting for a replacement but wanted to confirm if there is a blinking light rapidly blinking on the motherboard when the PC is plugged in, does that indicate the power supply or is the whole motherboard possibly fried? I would think it wouldn't blink at all if it were the motherboard...thoughts?

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Checked your PC's Service Guide (Link) for MB error codes, could not find MB LED error codes. I might have missed it.

A blinking MB LED could indicate some type of hardware problem.

Check/reseat all MB connections and components, only use a monitor to see if you can POST.

I would have started troubleshooting the power supply, as you are doing, if I owned this product.

Unfortunately I think the whole motherboard might just be fried..new power supply did not work had the same result. Reset all of the connections and tried powering on with no peripherals, still no luck.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that.

I would try a POST with only RAM plus the CPU and CPU cooler installed in the MB to see what happens.

Then try no RAM to see if you get a POST error code.

Swap the sticks of RAM in each memory socket to see what happens.

A bad component connected to the MB can sometimes cause problems.

Regards
