HP Z640 Base Model Workstation

Hi all,
a couple of days ago I received a new Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card for upgrading my HP z640 workstation.

I've already checked that the graphics card is compatible in terms of:

  • Power supply (925w power supply & 2x PCIe 6-pin cables)
  • Size
  • PCI Express slot (Gen3)
  • Operating system & Driver (Linux with the latest version of the Nvidia driver)

However, when I connect it, the diagnostic LED blinks red 6 times and the system beeps 6 times, following a 2-second pause, indicating a "pre-video graphic card error".

I would like to ask if there are any know BIOS settings that I should adjust or if there is any other compatibility requirement that I'm missing.

My previous graphics card - Nvidia GTX1080 - is recognized properly without any issues.

Which manufacturer made the RTX 4070 design card? There were many.

Is the six-pin power connector plugged in?

What is the currently installed BIOS version?

Here is an interesting article  of a GPU upgrade at a third party forum website with the same diagnostic error and PC that is stated to be resolved.
