Thank you for sharing the images. Based on the top row of the HP 710 wireless keyboard shown, here is a breakdown of the special function keys (F1–F12 and others) and what each symbol means, including how to activate them:
Top Row Function Key Descriptions (left to right):
Key | Symbol | Description | Default or Use with Fn |
---|---|---|---|
F1 | 🔇 | Mute audio | Default |
F2 | 🔉 | Volume down | Default |
F3 | 🔊 | Volume up | Default |
F4 | ⏮️ | Previous track (media) | Default |
F5 | ▶️⏸️ | Play/Pause (media) | Default |
F6 | ⏭️ | Next track (media) | Default |
F7 | 🌐 | Launch web browser | Default |
F8 | ✉️ | Launch email client | Default |
F9 | 📷 | Snip & Sketch / Screenshot tool | Default |
F10 | 🔲 | Maximize window / Switch apps | May require Fn |
F11 | 🌙 | Sleep Mode | Default |
F12 | 🔒 | Lock screen | Default |
Key Combinations & Tips:
-
Function Lock (Fn Lock):
-
If pressing F1–F12 performs their traditional functions (like refreshing or opening help), hold
Fn
key + top-row key to activate the special function. -
If the special functions (e.g., volume) work by default, you don’t need to hold
Fn
. -
To toggle Fn Lock: Try pressing
Fn + Esc
. Some keyboards support this to switch default behavior.
