OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV)

The Hana motherboard has 8 pins for the cpu power supply but only 4 are used on my computer.  When would I need to use the 8 pins? If I upgrade to a more powerful processor?

@Dnhahn,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Excellent question, and you would be right if you could upgrade your OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV) as fitted with the HP Hana motherboard (SSID: 8876) with a processor needing more than 192 watt of power, which a 4-pin CPU power connector can deliver.

An 8-pin CPU connector can deliver up to 384 watts of power, which is twice as much as the aforementioned 4-pin CPU power connector. However, your Hana motherboard does not support such power-hungry processors.

The most powerful CPU you could fit on your motherboard (at least as far as HP has recommended/approved), is the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X with a 105-watt TDP.

Hope this was helpful.
