Hi @ulysses-m,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP PC isn’t turning on, here are the most effective steps to diagnose and fix it:

1. Check Power Source

  • Make sure the power cable is firmly connected to the PC and the wall outlet.
  • Try a different outlet or power strip.
  • If it’s a desktop, confirm the PSU switch (on the back) is ON.

2. Look for Signs of Power

  • Do any lights turn on? Fans spin?
    • No lights/fans: Likely power supply or motherboard issue.
    • Lights blink, or fans start then stop: Could be RAM, CMOS, or a hardware fault.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB, printer, etc.).
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and try turning it on.

4. Check Battery (for laptops)

  • Remove the battery (if removable) and try powering on with the AC adapter only.
  • If the battery is internal, try a hard reset as above.

5. Inspect for Error Codes

  • If Caps Lock or the power LED blinks in a pattern, note the sequence; it indicates a hardware error.
  • Example: 3 long + 2 short blinks = memory issue.

6. Try BIOS Recovery

  • Press and hold Windows + B while powering on.
  • Keep holding until you hear beeps or see the BIOS recovery screen.

7. If Still Dead

  • Possible causes: failed power supply, motherboard, or hard drive.
  • Contact HP Support or a certified technician: HP Contact Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
