HP Envy 750-424
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am running out of space on my hard drive and am wanting to install a second internal drive.  I think I've figured that out, but while looking up what drive to install, I noticed on my specs for my computer, it has 128 gb TLC solid state and then 1 tb SATA.  The 128 gb is almost full but where can I access the 1 tb of space?  Or is that telling me what I can install for the 2nd drive?  I'm very confused and can't seem to find any answers anywhere else.

Great. Yes, create a folder for music, one for videos, documents, downloads, pictures and any other personal files you have on the smaller SSD and transfer to the much larger drive. (The large drive should be your storage drive)

If you already have the files in the folders created by Windows (documents, downloads, music ...) you can move the folder and the link will be to the new location. So click on the folder icon on application bar at bottom of desktop. Under this PC you can see these folders.

folders os.PNGRight-click on each folder and click on properties. Go to the tab location and click on move. Next choose the larger hard drive and click on OK.

move folder os.PNG

The smaller drive should only be used for Windows and applications installed.

Hope it helps,

David

If you removed the cover, hopefully the evidence will be there (or not).

Hi @AuntJessa

You should have a 128GB SSD and a 1TB mechanical hard drive. If you click on the little folder icon on the application bar at the bottom of desktop

folder icon.PNG

In the Windows that opens you can click on This PC in the list on left. Now you should see the various hard drives and partititons of your PC.

This PCThis PCThe C: and Recovery partition will be on the 128GB SSD (it might have a red color if it is nearly full. You should see another drive with more than 900GB of free space which would be the 1TB drive. You can double click on the drive to get access. You should also transfer any personal files (pictures, videos etc... ) to this larger drive to keep space on the SSD for application.

If the drive is not present in the list let me know and we can see how to proceed.

Hope it helps,

David

Yes, the drive shows up.  So I can move any pictures or videos over to that drive to free up space on my c: drive?
